PROGRAMS & SERVICES - TRANSITIONAL LIVING Campuses providing this program:
Quakerdale's Transitional Living services are designed
to provide a transition for older adolescents between residential or foster
care and independent living on their own.
Two components are available, Cluster Site and Scattered Site. The Cluster
Site program provides supervised group living to teach the necessary skills
for young adults to live successfully on their own. Cluster site is available in New Providence and Waterloo. Scattered Site provides
supervision and assistance to young adults who reside in their own apartments
in a community. Scattered site is available in Manning, New Providence, Marshalltown and Waterloo.
Participants of the Transitional Living program are 16-19 years old
and are completing high school or high school equivalency requirements
(GED).
Youth under the age of 18 must be employed or in work training full time, or be attending high school or GED part time and working part time. If age 18 or older, youth must be attending school or working on a GED full-time.
Transitional Living staff provides counseling and skill development to
youth to assist them in emotional support, leisure management, recreation
skills, life management skills, and community living skills.
