On Saturday September 5th, 3 Manning shelter clients and Quakerdale staffer Amy Bengard volunteered at "Meals from the Heartland" in Des Moines, along with others from the Methodist church in Manning. Over 15,000 volunteers took part in packaging 4,019,904 meals. These meals will be sent to starving people in Haiti, Jamaica, South Africa, Nigeria, Mexico, Israel, and homeless shelters here in Iowa. The group really enjoyed their time and were proud of the work they did to help others.
