Annual Lennox/Quakerdale Invitational Pro-AM Golf Tournament
Raises $85,000 for Organization
Sunny weather and a slight breeze greeted the golfers in this year’s Lennox/Quakerdale Invitational Pro-Am Golf Tournament, held Thursday, June 16, at the Marshalltown Elmwood Country Club. As a result of the tournament, a check for $85,000 was presented to Quakerdale.
One hundred twenty eight golfers from across the nation participated in the event. Blaine McCalister, a member of the PGA Champions Tour, attended the event and conducted a clinic for the golfers prior to the start of the tournament. McCallister turned pro in 1981 and joined the PGA Tour in 1982.
Other celebrities participating this year included Tory Dannen, University of Northern Iowa Athletic Director; Dr. Tom Davis, retired head men’s basketball coach at Drake University; Bobby Hansen, former University of Iowa and Chicago Bulls basketball star and currently in charge of Business Development with Iowa Speedway; Johnny Orr, retired head men’s basketball coach at Iowa State University and, Dan Winters, WHO-TV News Reporter and Anchor.
A social hour and banquet followed the tournament. Tournament General Chairman Loras Neuroth kicked of the event by welcoming participants and introducing speakers. Speakers included Celebrity Pro Blaine McCalister, Quakerdale Executive Director, Rob Talbot, and Quakerdale Promise Academy student, Quinn.
The annual event has raised $1,258,500 for the agency. Next year will mark the 25th year of the annual golf tournament. The date of Thursday, June 14, was announced at the evening banquet.
