Quakerdale Hosts 20th Annual Manning Golf Outing
Raising $14,400 for Kids
(Carroll, IA) -- On Monday, June 6, 65 golfers beat the heat and came together for kids at the Carroll Country Club to participate in the 20th Annual Quakerdale of Manning Golf Outing. The event raises funds each year to benefit Quakerdale’s Manning Campus. The campus provides a host of preventive and therapeutic services to the youth and families of Carroll county and surrounding areas.
In 2010, Quakerdale of Manning expanded their services and teamed up with the Denison Public Schools to set up an Independent Learning Center (ILC). The ILC provides high school and middle school students support as they overcome behavior issues and work to enhance their academics before transitioning back to the public schools.
After the round, golfers enjoyed a social hour and program, which was held in the Carroll Country Club. Golf Pro, Paul Tigges kicked off the program by distributing awards and announcing the winning team which included Nate Puck, John Dukes, Kevin Boersma, and Tony Bohenkamp.
Following the awards former Quakerdale resident, Christian, shared his experiences before coming to Quakerdale and how his time spent there helped him get his life back on track. The program concluded with the announcement of the final amount raised, which totaled $14,400.
The golf outing is organized by the Quakerdale Development Council of Western Iowa, which includes council members Jair Mayhall, Bill Prebeck, Nate Puck, Jim Auen, and co-chairs Kevin Boyle and Brad Vollstedt.
“It is through the hard work of the development council and the support of community that makes the tournament a success each year,” says Rob Talbot, Executive Director. “We are very appreciative of the commitment and dedication our partners have illustrated to Quakerdale’s mission of encouraging families and communities.”
