Quakerdale of Waterloo to Host Open House and
Laughter Yoga Workshops
(Waterloo, Iowa, April 21, 2011) -Quakerdale, a statewide community service provider, is proud to be celebrating 160 years of supporting youth and families. In light of this 160th year anniversary the agency will be hosting an open house on Friday, May 6, 2011 featuring Certified Laughter Yoga instructor, Laura Gentry and invites the public to attend.
“It is surprising to hear how many people drive by our campus daily, but do not know who we are or what we do. Our organization is committed to educating and encouraging individuals and communities through growing programs and services. We want people to know we are here for them,” stated new Quakerdale of Waterloo Campus Director, Jeff DeVine.
The event will take place at the Quakerdale of Waterloo Campus – 140 S. Barclay, Waterloo, IA 50703 - from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided and two laughter yoga workshops will take place at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
"Laughter yoga combines laughter exercises with deep breathing, stretching and relaxation. When it is practiced in a group, it becomes absolutely contagious," said instructor, Laura Gentry. "Not only do people laugh, but they joyfully connect with one another and cultivate their own childlike playfulness."
The event will also celebrate and commemorate National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.
