PSMAPP Leaders are certified leaders that will co-training the PSMAPP curriculm to prepare prospective foster and/or adoptive parents using the approved 30-hour preparation cirriculum on a contract basis.

Iowa KidsNet would like to announce an upcoming training for individuals wishing to become PS-MAPP Leaders.
PSMAPP Leader Training (Seven Days)
Dates: June 7-10, and June 21-23, 2011
Location: LSI, 3200 University, Des Moines, IA
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
(Complete information will be provided with letter confirming acceptance to this leader training session.)
Certified leaders will co-train (social worker and foster and/or adoptive parent training team) the PSMAPP curriculum to prepare prospective foster and/or adoptive parents using the approved 30-hour preparation curriculum on a contract basis.
Areas of Need: Social work leaders are needed in the Cedar Rapids, Burlington, Keokuk, Council Bluffs and Sioux City. Foster parent leaders are needed in Burlington, Keokuk and Council Bluffs.
If you would like to become a leader for
PSMAPP pre-service training:
1. Send a letter of interest detailing your experience in foster care licensing, completing adoptive home studies and/or foster or special needs adoptive care. Also include why you want to become a leader as well as what skills you possess to be a great leader.
2. Submit a letter of recommendation from your agency supervisor or agency licensing/placement/supervising worker.

Qualifications for PSMAPP Leaders
SOCIAL WORKER: Be a currently employed social worker working as Foster Home Licensing worker or Special Needs Adoption worker with responsibility for evaluating/studying families. Have at least two years experience in licensing foster families for special needs adoption.
FOSTER AND/OR ADOPTIVE PARENT: Be a licensed foster parent with at least two years of active parenting of a foster child(ren) and/or an adoptive parent of a child.
Preparation of Leaders
To become certified, candidates must participate fully in the seven-day leader certification class offered by Iowa KidsNet. The leader certification instruction is provided in a conference setting.
Compensation
While completing the leader certification class each participant will be reimbursed for their travel, meals and lodging up to a specified limit. Leaders who complete the certification and are approved to provide PSMAPP training will receive $25.00 per classroom contact hour, plus ½ hour of preparation time while delivering the training. Travel to and from the training site is reimbursed at the rate of $.36 per mile.
Expectation
Leaders co-train (social worker/foster and/or adoptive parent training team) the PSMAPP curriculum to prepare prospective foster and/or adoptive parents using the approved 30-hour preparation curriculum on a contract basis. All leaders completing leader certification training must be able to demonstrate standard leader abilities in order to present the PS-MAPP curriculum to potential resource families. There may be times when you will not have a class to teach due to scheduling or other leaders available.
