Quakerdale Eagle’s Win 2011 NCBA National Post Grad Invitational Championship
(New Providence) – The Quakerdale Promise Academy Eagles won the 2011 NCBA National Post Grad Invitational Championship in Richmond, Indiana. The invitational was held March 11-12, 2011 where 8 teams from across the country competed for the national championship. The Eagles won the championship in overtime and defeated the host team, New Creations Basketball Academy 57 to 56.
Quakerdale’s Chris Oliveria and Mario Redmond were voted NCBA all-tournament first-team and co-MVPs’. Fredrick Young and Dejoni Norris were voted NCBA all-tournament second- team.
In a recent interview with the Hardin County Index Coach Hughes commented, "For a first year program this is a blessing and it showed that Quakerdale is moving in the right direction and trying to make a difference and get recognized for the great things that we do here. I hope with us winning this championship it will let people know throughout the state that we are doing some big things and are looking forward to the future."
The tournament marked a strong finish for the Eagle’s first season.
