Join Us As We Go Green!

The leaves may be changing to reds, yellows, and browns, but Quakerdale is getting greener!  The Promise Academy house has started a recycling program that focuses on being environmentaly friendly.  The students are seeking the following:

  • 1)      Non critical office paper
  • 2)      Magazines, newspapers, and other paper
  • 3)      Corrugated cardboard
  • 4)      Chip board (non corrugated cardboard)
  • 5)      Plastic water bottles and other plastics featuring the recycling triangle as well as a soft drink bottle redeemable for a nickel.
  • 6)      Tin cans & scrap metals (The #1 item to facilitate making the min. weight requirements)
  • 7)      Aluminum
  • 8)      Pull tabs from aluminum cans as well as off soup cans.

The Promise Academy has been assisted in their endeavor by City Carton & Recycling in Cedar Falls.  The items are picked up and are traded in for cash; however a 500 pound minimum must be made for a pick up.

Students appreciate any assistance that you are able to provide. From donating your recyclables to spreading the word.

Get involved by donating your recyclables and dropping them off at Tatum Cottage at the New Providence Campus.  Please make sure there are lightly rinsed and reasonably clean.
