To Serve as Christ Serves
Promise Academy
Promise Academy

The Promise Academy is a private, alternative group living opportunity for youth who are unable to achieve their potential while in their current living environment, but strongly seek the opportunity to succeed.

The Promise Academy is not a correctional institution or residential treatment facility, but operates more like a community boarding school. Participation is voluntary, and the program is designed for those seeking a Christian based educational program that nurtures the soul.  Empowering leadership qualities, academic focus,  and a foundation for positive individual characteristics and growth are all built at the Academy.

An accredited cirriculum through the Iowa Department of Education and award winning , web-based learning environment featuring a media-rich online cirriculum is offered at the Promise Academy.  The cirriculum is fully accredited by the Commission for International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), a division of AdvancED.

AdvancED is the world’s largest education community, representing 27,000 public and private schools and districts across the United States and in 65 countries worldwide and educating 15 million students. TLCI is also co-accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools (MSCES) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

What makes the Promise Academy special?

  • Students are referred by parents, clergy, school personnel or others – not the courts.
  • Students voluntarily seek admission no later than 10th grade and stay in the program through high school graduation or when the family is ready for their return.
  • Acceptance into the program is a privilege.
  • Full or partial scholarships are awarded based on need.
  • Parents and guardians do not surrender parental rights; they are active partners with Quakerdale staff in their child’s progress.
